I have this thing I do before heading out of town where I swing by the studio and just sit there for a bit. It’s not really about painting; it’s more like saying goodbye to my work. I like to take one last look and keep that final image of the painting fresh in my mind. While I’m traveling, I can think about what I want to do next with each piece—what’s working and what’s not.
I was planning to share more from my upcoming series this week, but I think I’ll hold off until next week to get some better shots. I want to let everything settle a bit, then I’ll head out of town, come back, and add some more touches. We’re getting ready to leave for Jackson Hole today for a ski trip. I love spending all day outdoors, getting worn out, then relaxing in a hot tub, going to bed early, and enjoying some cozy fire time. Plus, I’m packing some art supplies for the kids to mess around with. A lot of people ask me what art supplies I get for my kids, so here are some of my go-to favorites.
For the kids at home and on the go:
BNDL ③ —My kid is really into this activity. This company is awesome. They put together some fantastic playlists, and we always end up having dance parties with their music.
Tempera Paint Sticks and Crayola Construction Paper are always in our playroom. I was chatting with a friend who works as an art therapist at the children's hospital, and she enjoys using these with her young patients.
Drawing Pads—I have a large pad in the studio and at home. It’s just the right size for jotting down notes and sketching. Plus, I sometimes use paper to wrap gifts, too!
Glitter Tape- Glittery tape is just the best, right? It's super handy to keep on hand and adds a fun sparkle to any craft project.
Sunrise Set Play Table and Chairs- This set has been great for us! The kids can’t damage it, it’s fun to look at, and it really makes a nice spot for them to have their own creative space.
Smock Bib- these bibs serve several purposes, but one of the most useful is protecting clothes from all those vibrant paint colors. I wish they made these for adults because they’re just so adorable!
Ordering it all!
