Notes From The Studio
living beyond the canvas
Lately, I’ve been thinking about where a painting actually lives. Not just on a wall, but inside a rhythm.
Last year, two collaborations came to life, and this year they’re finally coming into view. I love how they allow a piece to step outside its usual container, seen in a new light, with a fresh cadence. This year, I’ll be creating an exclusive series inspired by the natural beauty of Palmetto Bluff, which will be featured in the Flow Gallery. Inspired by the slow mornings, long paths, and that effortless Lowcountry quiet. Everything there feels naturally composed: marsh, sky, weathered wood, all layered without trying. The series will likely return to my nest forms, a shape I love revisiting. What stayed with me most were the birds and the palette of their home: softened greens, washed sky, warm earth. All of it will weave into the work — collected, grounded, and easy to live with.
At the same time, Anthropologie has printed my birds and magnolias onto clothing, a simple, beautiful way to see the work reimagined, closer to the body. Fabric instead of linen. Movement instead of stillness. A sleeve brushing a table, a dress catching air, magnolia petals folding softly with the wearer. Intimate in a different way — less observed, more lived in. Shop the collection here.
Both collaborations feel connected. Not because of format, but because of proximity. One becomes part of a room; the other becomes part of a person.
I’m drawn to work that layers into daily life, quiet, unnoticed, but always there. A way, I think, to see art a little differently: whatever the form, both are layered into routine.
