I feel like I'm really diving into life lately, almost like I'm on the attack! I sometimes get that same vibe at work too. This week, I made an effort to appreciate the small things. The new series I'm creating in the studio is a great reminder to take it easy and just let things unfold. I'm focusing on a flower blossoming in my garden, the first one that appears as spring kicks off. I can see its blooms from my kitchen, and they truly captivate me. It usually blooms around my birthday, and that little joy brings me so much happiness.
Here are this week’s little joys …
Staying home in the morning alone and cooking a meal just for me. Watching the sun dance throughout a quiet house.
Cleaning out your closet and planning outfits for spring.
A big shipment of one of my favorite paintbrushes arriving.
Finding a new song to love.
Buying art in person from the artist.
Finding my stride on a new series.
Planning to make this cake this weekend.
Listening to an author read a book that is making me giggle.
Spending a day with a friend and her baby, visiting the museum and seeing a Joan Mitchell painting in person. She is one of my all time favorites. The brown mark at the bottom makes it for me.
Early morning visits from a neighbor.
The Tulip Magnolia and old Dogwood trees blooming in the garden.
Remembering to take my Zyrtec.
Finding a new shoe to wear to the studio so your back won’t hurt while you work.
Talking with an artist I love.
Really enjoy reading your notes from the studio! Yes, the little things are the best.
