This week, I’m transitioning away from one of my breast-feedings. My 10-month-old has never taken a bottle, and I’ve been present for every feeding since her birth. As I look forward to how I’ll spend this newfound time, I’m inspired to revisit my book-making days (RIP, Lil Bit Lit) and dream of creating a coffee table book about my journey as an artist to date. I imagine this book as a fusion of a traditional coffee table book and a unique artistic object. Though I’m not quite ready to dive into that project, I’m planning to start a Substack to bridge the gap. My art career is deeply intertwined with my personal experiences, and my new fruit series perfectly illustrates how my life influences my work. A Substack seems like an ideal platform to connect these threads and share more about my creative process. Will it last forever? Only time will tell. A few years ago, I enjoyed writing prompts from Suleika Jaouad’s Isolation Journals. Although I never considered myself a writer, I’ve embraced the opportunity to explore new creative avenues.
Here’s a design concept inspired by Nature, created by the team that revamped my branding a year ago. While it’s not a final design, I hope you see it as an aspirational idea.
I've been exploring Substack for some time and wanted to share a few of my faves.
Please share your favorite substacks below, I am in the reading mood!
I love reading other artist's thoughts and aspirations. Thank you for sending!
